Go Home Day

Go Home Day

At the end of a trip, on our way home to San Antonio, we like to stay close to San Antonio so we can clean out our tanks and leisurely drive into San Antonio early the next morning.  Sundays are best but this time, go home day was Tuesday.

Normally we will stay at Buckhorn Lake Resort RV Park on I-10 west of Kerrville.  However, they were full and didn’t have a spot for us.  There is a KOA at the same exit but it is a two mile drive further down Goat Creek Road.

This was our first time staying at the Kerrville KOA Journey.  This park is small for a KOA but oddly has a better convenience store as well as gas and diesel pumps and propane.   The best thing about this KOA is that many of the spots have decent shade from large trees.  This is unusual for parks in the area.  It looks like the best available shade is on the back-in sites.  In the heat of summer, havving afternoon shade for your RV is the difference between the AC keeping up or not.  In the future during the summer, we will probably choose this KOA over the Buckhorn.

From the Buckhorn and the KOA,  you can explore Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Bandera, Boerne, Luckenbach, Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park and Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site.

Hope to see you on the road ahead!
