The Billings KOA Holiday has just been designated the very first best all-around KOA RV Park so far. This isn’t the only first for the Billings KOA. In 1962, it was designated the first KOA. Then in 2013, this KOA was designated the first KOA Holiday. Now, it has been designated the very first best all-around KOA. Quite a pedigree.
The Billings KOA isn’t first in all categories. In bathhouses, the Billings KOA is second behind Durant/Choctaw Casino KOA.
In the best ocean, river, stream, pond or lake views, the Billings KOA comes in second with the Yellowstone River and a nice pond. It turns out that the walk over to the Yellowstone River was pleasant and peaceful. Didn’t see another person.
The number one KOA park with the best ocean, river, stream, pond or lake view is South Padre Island KOA. South Padre Island also has the best sunsets.
Best patio sites categories goes to the Billings KOA. This is the nicest site we have been in. It was nice to be assigned a site that was the same size and quality as all the others.
In the miniature golf category, the Billings KOA is off the charts! No other park even comes close. However, in the best water park category, held by the Colorado Springs KOA, the Billings KOA pool and hot tube don’t even rate an honorable mention.
The Billings KOA places above average in the wildlife category. However, no other park has more wildlife. Some have less.
The Billings KOA dog park is above average. It has shade and nice benches. The entry gates allows for doggy greeting opportunities to determine friendliness. It is clean and poop free. Bags are available. Poop garbage can bags are changed regularly. No grass means this dog park missed the top quintile (80%) of dog parks.
The cafe at Billings KOA is open for breakfast and dinner. The Colorado Springs KOA Holiday, in addition to doing breakfast and dinner, also serves lunch. Still, two meals per day is much better than average.
The onsite laundromat is of average size for KOA’s. While at the park, after walking by the laundromat numerous times, the laundromat was in use just once.
In the park store, I bought two Glacier and one Yellowstone National Park stickers. I put one sticker on my laptop and I’m saving the other two to put onto portable USB hard drives. I’ll make the drive’s virtual name match the park name on the sticker. Makes it easier to keep track of hard drives.
We also bought ice cream sandwiches and ice at the store. The staff is helpful, professional and friendly. Better than average.
Even though the day was hot, it cooled off at night and we opened the windows and slept with the Fan-Tastic roof vent on low. Slept like a baby. Other than noises made by other campers, the park was quiet. No trains. No freeways. That we could hear anyways.
This is the all around best park we’ve stayed in. we will be back on our way in and out Montana’s great parks including Glacier and Yellowstone.
Hope to see you on the road ahead!
