Take It Easy, the iconic Eagles song from 1972, embedded itself deep in my heart at age 14. Every single time it plays on the radio, I still turn up the volume. Even so, while researching Winslow Arizona things to do, I was completely surprised by the existence of the Standing On The Corner Park in Winslow. Seeing the park and standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona rocketed to the top of my bucket list.

When we arrived at the corner, we parked behind the Flat Bed Ford. Getting out of our Jeep, the building on my right is the facade on the left. The facade looked like a building and I didn’t think anything of it. In search of more interesting pictures, I walked around to what I thought was the front of the building. I was surprised to see a grassy area with a band platform at the back. Totally fooled me.

There are two statues at the corner. Wikipedia doesn’t say who, if anyone, the statue represents other than it is a guitar player. I guessed as much from the guitar.

In my mind, I always imagined the song was about a hippy dude standing on the corner. Long hair, t-shirt and blue jeans. I was pleased to find my hippy dude hanging out on the corner with me.
My wife and I keep discussing the lyrics describing the truck. I originally thought it was some girl in a flat head Ford slowing down to take a look at me. Linda thought it was a red Ford. After listening to the song over and over I decided that it must have been a flat bed Ford.

I was really happy to see a flat bed Ford. Linda was really glad to see a red Ford. I’m wondering if the engine under the hood was a flat head straight six. Then all would be right in the world.

Thanks to all of those people who made this bucket list item possible.
Hope to see you on the road ahead.
